THE SECOND ANNUAL RACE FOR THE TGA CUP

2nd Annual Monday Night Tournament Series Set to Resume This Summer

We are excited to announce that we will be running a new tournament series during the summer months. Our TGA golfers will have the opportunity to compete in 9-hole tournaments at our partner golf courses (Dunwoodie, Maple Moor, Saxon Woods and Sprain Lake) on Monday nights beginning June 26. Tee times will begin around 6:00 p.m.

The tournaments will be individual stroke play. This will be a step up compared to the two-player best ball and scramble formats we use in our spring and fall travel leagues. If there is sufficient interest in this series, we will divide players into four divisions (Boys 14-18, Boys 10-13, Boys 9 & Under and Girls Open). Here are the dates for the Monday tournaments:

Our golfers can compete in as many of the above tournaments as their schedule allows. There is a $45 registration fee for the series, and then you sign up for each Monday night tournament individually. Weekly awards will be given out, and golfers will accumulate points based on their finish each Monday.

At the end of the eight-tournament series, the top players in the points standings of each division will be invited to compete in the TGA Tour Championship. which will take place on August 28, and the winner in each division of that final tournament will receive the TGA Cup. Golfers are not required to compete in all eight tournaments to earn an invitation to the TGA Tour Championship. Spots are earned by the points standings.

For golfers who have already competed in an individual stroke play tournament, this will be a great way to continue gaining valuable on-course experience on summer evenings. And for those who have yet to try this format, this will be a good introduction to the way most tournaments are conducted and the first steps on a path to prepare for regional junior golf tournaments and high school golf.
